KIU, Main Campus-After opening the weekend with a hard-fought victory over D-Mark Power basketball club, the Titans looked on course to complete another double only to be edged by Kampala Rockets on Sunday evening.

KIU Titans led 18-14 in the first quarter but the Rockets capitalized on the many turnovers by the Titans in the second quarter to lead 29-30  at halftime before cruising on the margin all night long to win 57-61.

The Titans fought hard to force a comeback in the third and fourth quarter but the determined Kampala Rockets were equal to the challenge. There were several missed shots from Amisi Saidi Danny Carmelo, Peter Obleng, and Denis Balungu in the fourth quarter due to some incredible defensive discipline from the opponents.

With two minutes on the clock, Kampala Rockets held on to a three-point lead though things could have changed if Amisi Saidi had scored from the free throw line at 50 seconds left, where he missed all the three attempts, something rare of him.

The Titans will return to action this Friday evening with a top of the table clash against eight-time champions City Oilers. There is hope that the boys in green will come back stronger bearing in mind that a win against the Oilers gives them a chance to finish at least in the second place on the NBL men's table.
