KIU, Main Campus-Both KIU Titans and KIU Rangers will be in action this weekend as the 2023 National basketball league regular season draws closer to the end. The Titans will begin the weekend with a pulsating encounter with D-Mark Power basketball club on Friday evening while KIU Rangers will play A1 Challenge on Saturday afternoon.
The Titans will complete the weekend's action against relegation-threatened Kampala Rockets on Sunday evening.
Friday's game against Power basketball club is the late tip-off at 9:00 PM EAT while on Sunday, KIU Titans vs Kampala Rockets will also close the weekend's NBL business at 6:00 PM EAT. Both games will be played at the YMCA court in Wandegeya.
KIU Titans Coach Julius Lutwama confirmed in an interview on Thursday that forward Edgar Munaba and guard Collins Kasujja are still sick and may not be part of his roster for Friday evening's game against Power basketball club.
The Titans will be looking for nothing less than victory in either games in order to maintain the pressure on the NBL men's table where they sit third below City Oilers and Namuwongo Blazers respectively.
KIU Rangers Duo, Ninette Uwineza and Dorcas Marondera Await late Medical Clearance
KIU Rangers captain Ninette Uwineza who has missed the last two games due to injury is set to return to the squad on Saturday though according to Julius Lutwama, she will wait for clearance and advice from the team's medical personnel.
He also reported that new Signing Dorcas Marondera who limped out of the game against Nkumba lady Marines on Sunday will also need a late clearance from the doctors though she looked lively during the team's last training session on Thursday evening.
The KIU Rangers are eager to secure a spot within the top two ranks on the Women's National Basketball League standings where they trail JT Lady Jaguars and UCU Lady Canons.
