KIU, Main Campus-After two weeks of recess, KIU Titans return to action this evening when they face city Oilers in their last match of the first round of the 2022 Uganda National Basketball men's league. The game kicks off at 8 pm EAT at MTN indoor Arena, Lugogo.
City Oilers are the only reason why the Titans are still waiting for their first National Basketball league glory following their 2017 triumph over the Kansanga outfit who have since been waiting for a better moment to unleash their revenge.
KIU Titans captain, Peter Okoth does not think the current sides have anything in common with the teams that met in 2017 final. He is confident that his team is fresh enough to beat anyone.
"That was back then and none of the players in the team now was available so these are fresh guys and we are very determined to compete with any team," he said.
However, according to KIU Titans Coach Raymond Muhumuza, City Oilers are still strong a team and that everyone in the green camp is aware of their ability though he maintained that the Titans are very prepared for today's encounter.
"The team is good to go. We know who we are up against and the level of preparation it requires to get a positive result out of this game," he said.
The Titans will need the best of star man Edgar Munaba who is said to be in a very great mood after healing from a double cramp which he suffered against JKL Dolphins two weeks ago.
The 22-year-old has managed double digits in the last seven consecutive games. The boys in green will also seek the best of Ahmed Kassa who has been on top form in recent weeks as well as evergreen Henry Okoth.
A win for the Titans could see them finish in the top four places on the UBL table where they are currently in position six, below fifth-placed City Oilers.
