What's Happening Today?

World Intellectual Property Day. It is celebrated to learn the role that Intellectual Property rights play in encouraging innovation and creativity. The World IP Day 2020 puts innovation and the IP rights that support it, at the heart of efforts to create a green future because “the choices we make today will shape our tomorrow” according to wipo.int – the World Intellectual Property Organization website.

Hug A Friend Day. Hugging is one of the commonest things we do. When you meet a friend after a long while, the first impulse is to hug. Apart from being used as a means of greeting without using language, hugging can also be used to comfort, show gratitude, say goodbye, show support or congratulate someone. 

Use this day to, well, hug a friend.

Get Organized day. This day celebrates the importance of organization in saving time by making sure you know where things are, how to find them and how to put them back for next time.

Use this day to organize your stuff and put in place a system that can make it easier for you to locate whatever you may need in your house at any time.

What Happened Today? 

1. In 1964, Tanganyika and the People’s Republic of Zanzibar unified to form the Republic of Tanzania. This was after years of conflict between Tanganyika and the island country of Zanzibar.

2. In 1994, the New Polio Vaccine was administered for the first time in the United States of America in a nationwide polio vaccine test.

3. In 1986, the Chernobyl Nuclear Disaster, the largest nuclear accident in history happens after an explosion and fire at the no. 4 nuclear reactor of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. It caused a nuclear meltdown, sending radioactivity into the atmosphere, which spread all over Europe.
