What's Happening Today?

Ramadhan. Muslims all over the world start the holy month of Ramadhan, where they will fast for twenty-nine or thirty days. Ramadhan, which is the ninth month on the Islamic calendar is also a month for prayer, reflection and community and is a commemoration of Prophet Mohammed’s first revelation. It is one of the five pillars of Islam.

We at Kampala International University wish all our Muslim brothers and sisters a happy Ramadhan.

World Meningitis Day. This day is dedicated to raising awareness about Meningitis, underscoring the importance of prevention through vaccination and improving support for those dealing with the potentially devastating consequences of the disease. The theme for this year’s World Meningitis Day is “Let’s Defeat Meningitis Together”

National Arbor Day. “Arbor” is the Latin word for trees. This day focuses on the care and preservation of existing trees, as well as on the planting of new ones. It is one of the oldest commemorations, with the first Arbor Day being celebrated in 1872, and it has been celebrated on the last Friday of April since.

Take this day to plant a tree and make your contribution to the environment protection agenda.
