On Friday, August 27, 2021, Kampala International University was recognized as one of the certified Huawei Academies in Uganda. The Managing Director, Huawei Technologies Limited Uganda handed the certificate to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Mouhammad Mpezamihigo at an event was held at Katonga Hall, Kampala Serena Hotel.

This certification is sequel to the Memorandum of Understanding signed on July 23rd, 2021, between Kampala International University and Huawei Technologies Company Limited on the establishment of ICT academy.

As the leading private university in Uganda, the Huawei Academy will enable KIU to develop ICT talents that will meet industry requirements and provide high-quality talent for industry development.

The courses offered at the Huawei ICT academy were developed based on the company’s understanding of the industry, technical accumulation over the years, and acknowledged market leadership.

KIU students will be trained in a wide range of technical fields ranging from Routing and Switching, Storage, Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN), Cloud Computing, Big Data, Internet of Things (IoT), and Artificial Intelligence.
