KIU, Western Campus – The 2024 Inter-Faculty football Gala was officially opened today, February 23rd, 2024 at the KIU Western Campus Basketball Court.

The Gala, which will feature teams from all the Faculties and Schools, kicked off today with matches at Bushenyi and Kizinda playgrounds. The semi-finals and final will be played tomorrow at Kizinda playground.

The participants were flagged off by the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics and Research (ADVC-A&R) Dr. Ibrahim Babangida, who called on them to be disciplined.

“You should be disciplined and don’t engage in fighting because this is just a game. They say all work with no play makes Jack a dull boy, so this is your time to play. May the best team win,” Dr. Babangida told them.

Dr. Babangida who was representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) for KIU Western Campus Assoc. Prof. Eric Mabonga declared that today will be a lecture-free day to allow the players to participate freely and have enough time to cover all the matches.

The gala, which is being organized by the Dean of Students’ Affairs (DSA) and the Minister of Sports and Games in the KIU Western Campus Guild Union, will see many prizes being awarded including a trophy for the winner, cash prizes, medals and soccer balls.
