KIU, Western Campus - KIU Western Campus Pharmacy Students under their umbrella organization KIUPSA on Saturday, September 25th honoured World Pharmacists Day by taking off some time to do community service, including cleaning around Ishaka town.
Under the stewardship of their president Michael Daniel Funda, the students kicked off the day from the campus, where they began the sweeping exercise from the campus gate, towards Bassajja market where they kept talking about the key roles of a pharmacist to the community especially amidst the pandemic.
They proceeded to the Bassajja trading center streets towards main Ishaka town and Ishaka market where they made their final sensitization while cleaning.
“As an Association uniting all the Pharmacy Students at Kampala international university, we hope to make a significant change in the health of the community around us, we plan on more activities to reach out to the community,” KIUPSA president Funda told this writer.
“We are glad that the university administration together with Bushenyi district authorities through the RDC gave us a go-ahead on sensitizing the community and carrying out a general cleaning of the environment around us onto making this day a key in the community,” he added.
Saturday 25th September was World Pharmacists Day and was celebrated under the theme "Pharmacy always trusted for your health"
