KIU, Western Campus – Students pursuing their studies from Kampala International University Western Campus have been availed with soft copy notes for one month on the University’s e-learning platform by their respective Schools.

The resolution was made in a Senior Management Meeting convened on Friday 20thMarch, to discuss the way forward following a Presidential directive closing all institutions of learning due to the COVID-19 threat.

The resolution has since been implemented by all schools as revealed by the Assistant Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Academics and Research for KIU Western Campus, Dr Jonans Tusiimire.

“All Schools are fully and actively engaging students through all our e-learning platforms to make sure learning is not severely interrupted,” Dr Tusiimire said.

Dr Tusiimire also advised the students to adhere to all the Ministry of Health safety guidelines to avoid falling victim to Coronavirus.

Davis Ssebayigga, a second-year student of Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at KIU Western campus confirmed that they had received notes on the class’ WhatsApp group.

“Yes, we received the notes on our WhatsApp group and I am grateful to the University for taking this measure because now we can continue reading, even though we are quarantined at home,” said Ssebayigga, who is at his parents’ home in Lyantonde district.

This development follows a similar move by KIU Main campus to implement the e-learning system to enable all students to access notes to facilitate their home reading.
