KIU, Western Campus – KIU Western students descended on Itendero Town Council in Sheema District to send-off their slain colleague Evas Akankunda, who was murdered by her boyfriend in cold blood in Kiryandongo.

Akankunda, who was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery at KIU Western Campus, was in her fourth year at the time of her death,

There was an outpour of love for Akankunda, whom many friends and colleagues described as gentle, down-to-earth and compassionate, with students moving themselves to the forefront of the burial activities to bury their own.

Students associations at Western Campus and national level also officially extended their condolences including the KIU Pharmacy students Association (KIUPSA), the Association of Medical Students of KIU (AMSKIU) and the Federation of Uganda Medical Students Association (FUMSA).

The students were led by their various leaders, including Moses Cooper Otim, the KIU Western Campus Guild Union Vice-President, Michael Daniel Funda, the president of KIUPSA, Moses Kambale, the President of AMSKIU and other association heads and leaders.

A huge delegation from Kiryandongo study center, where Akankunda was doing her clerkship also made its way to Itendero, albeit on short notice.

May Akankunda’s soul rest in eternal peace!
