KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) has emerged as the winners of the 2021 International Humanitarian Inter-university Moot Court Competition held at Fairway Hotel in Kampala on Tuesday 21st September 2021.

Organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Uganda, the 2021 edition of the International Humanitarian Moot Court Competition featured four of Uganda's leading Law offering Universities that included Kampala International University (KIU), Makerere University, Uganda Christian University (UCU), and Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU).

The competition that ran under the theme “International Humanitarian Law is Key to Manage Conflict in the World” was described as a very tight one by the organizers.

Despite producing the best oralist of the tournament, Uganda Christian University could not match the teamwork, coordination, and balance of the KIU Law Society Team who eventually emerged victorious.

Among the Judges of this year’s moot finals were Justice Elizabeth Nahamya, Mr. Elly Turyamubona (Chairman-General Court Martial Appeal), and Jemma Arman the regional Legal advisor at the ICRC in Nairobi.

KIU was represented by Kwagala Tabitha and Areeba Jonathan who pulled all their strength to secure this win and will walk away with UGX 300,000 cash each at the function that will be held at the ICRC offices in Kampala on Friday, 24th September 2020.

The moot court competition aspires to train law students in legal writing, arguing of court cases, professional conduct, and preparation of court proceedings.
