KIU, Main Campus - Said Abdikadir Farah, a Somali student at Kampala International University (KIU) awaiting the university's 30th graduation ceremony, describes choosing KIU as the best decision he’s ever made.
Farah, who is pursuing a Master’s in Business Administration with a specialization in Banking and Finance, shares that KIU has equipped him with essential life skills that have significantly advanced his career. He adds that joining KIU, Uganda's leading private university, was a choice he values deeply.
According to him, the warm environment of the institution, the selfless staff, and a mix of theory and practice helped lay a strong foundation for his future.
“Studying Master of Business Administration (Banking and Finance) at KIU has been a great opportunity all to gather for me. I've learned about financial theory, contemporary banking systems, and assessment of complex financial markets,” Farah noted
He adds that he’s to make use of the analytical skill set to guide him in making data-based decisions and to suggest creative solutions in the areas of finance and banking.
Farah also highlights that the university projects, internships and getting to know peers from various backgrounds have taught him the importance of teamwork, leadership and communication which are vital in the job market.
“What I experienced is what learning is, not only from the four corners of the room but also through cultivating relationships, experiencing failures and figuring out how to become better person once you fail,” he adds
Now as he looks forward to taking his career to the next level, Farah’s mission is to be fully involved in the transformational change within the finance and banking sectors which are evolving rapidly back in his motherland, Somalia.
“I believe my education has equipped me to provide quality, impactful service in these areas, to foster the foundations of a sturdy financial infrastructure that will aid Somalia in its journey toward receiving economic growth,” he stresses
Farah not only got the chance to excel academically while at KIU but also grew as a person. He therefore, expressed his appreciation to the friends he made, the mentors learned from and all the experiences that have taught him all the lessons that made him who he is today.
