KIU, Western Campus – Joan Logose says KIU’s bursary scheme aided her in achieving her goal - a Master’s degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology, which will be bestowed upon her at KIU’s 29th graduation ceremony on July 13th, 2024.
“I re-enrolled at KIU in April 2021 for my Master’s degree after completing my Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery. I was fortunate to receive a bursary from KIU, which has helped me achieve my goal,” she says.
She reveals that she joined KIU initially because she realized it was the only university that could give her the opportunity to become a doctor and she re-enrolled because of an overwhelming sense of belonging.
“The initial reason that led to my enrollment at KIU was its status as the sole university in Uganda that offered me the chance to realize my ambition of becoming a doctor,” she explains.
“Subsequently, my decision to re-enroll arose from the overwhelming sense of belonging and conducive environment, where I could strive to achieve my utmost potential,” she adds.
Logose says she is glad she took that step because the knowledge she has left with has exceeded the expectations she had when she joined.
“KIU at postgraduate level has exceeded all my expectations. On top of improving my skills in my specialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology, I have also grown in leadership skills, resilience among others,” she reveals.
She wants to use the knowledge she has got from KIU to provide quality healthcare, engage in more community outreach programs and mentoring other people so that she can share the knowledge she has acquired.
She fondly looks back to some of the challenging patient cases she and her colleagues encountered and how they successfully handled them with the guidance of their mentors.
Logose advises anyone looking for a good university education to look no further than KIU because not only does it offer quality university education but also develops one’s character.
