KIU's Geoffrey Akabwai settles for UFL's best 11 of the Decade

KIU, Main Campus-KIU soccer coach, Geoffrey Akabwai was on Wednesday 7th December 2022 named among the best 11, players who have graced the Pepsi University football league in the last 10 years. The awards ceremony that took place at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala was organised by the management of UFL as one way of celebrating a decade since the league began.

 Akabwai, one of the best defenders to have played for KIU was beaten to the defender of the decade award by Nkumba University's Douglas Muganga.

Faisal Muwawu also from Nkumba was recognised for scoring the highest amount of goals in the league in the last 10 years while Uganda Martyrs University was voted the best team of the decade.

Despite taking the most goals in a decade award, Faizal Muwawu did not make it to UFL'S best 11 of the decade. UCU's Were Emmanuel takes to goal, Gift Fred of Bugema University, Ismail Kawawulo of MUBS, Nkumba's Douglas Muganga and Geoffrey Akabwai of KIU complete UFL's best defense of the decade.

Among the midfielders of the decade is former Uganda Cranes sensational, Muzamir Mutyaba who represented Kampala University, Nkumba's Yasser Mugerwa and Kizito Kaye of UCU.

Owori Moses of Uganda Martyrs University, Siraje Musindo of Mbarara University Of Science and Technology and Moses Okot complete a three-man attack that made the best of the last 10 years in the Pepsi University football league.
