Mayor Pledges Financial Support to KIU Students Societies

KIU, Main Campus - Hon. Solomon Oketcho, Mayor Tororo Municipality, has pledged to financially support students' societies at Kampala International University.

He made the remarks during the official handover of leadership of National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chapter at KIU main campus Kansanga on Sunday, 16th May 2021.

He said "My happiness is to see the people I love progress and it gives me more happiness when I support them achieve the progress. I want to see the NRM chapter progress as well as KIU."

"To that effect I am committing to the progress and development of the NRM chapter with one million. I also want to give 500,000shs to the Guild Union and all the other students association in KIU will each get 200,000shs. All the money must reach you with in one week," Oketcho added

Oketcho further urged students to embrace associations and societies like the NRM chapter in order to boost their social capital.
