KIU, Main Campus - The Ministry of Education has strongly cautioned schools subjecting learners to promotional exams despite the government directive against the exercise.

While addressing the press at Uganda Media Center on Thursday, Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo, the State Minister for Higher Education, stressed that all schools are supposed to abide by the rules set by the Ministry of Education, and those defying will be summoned and punished respectively.

Muyingo has also asked parents to report those schools defying government orders and directives to the authorities.

It should recalled that Hon Janet Museveni, the State Minister for Education, in her address towards the reopening schools, directed the automatic promotion of all learners who were at schools before the 2020 lockdown in March, without subjecting them to promotional exams.

However, some schools are subjecting their learners to promotional exams after asking their parents to pay some charges toward this exercise.
