Pakistani High Commissioner to Uganda Visits KIU For Possible Areas of Collaboration

KIU, Main Campus - On Tuesday, February 14th, 2024, the management of KIU led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mouhammad Mpezamihigo, and the DVC Finance and Administration, Assoc. Prof. Janice Busingye hosted the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Uganda, His Excellency Muhammed Hassan Wazir.

The purpose of the visit was to explore areas of collaboration between KIU and universities in Pakistan.

The Ambassador noted that he intends to partner with KIU in many ways, "My intention is for us to collaborate in some ways. There are lots of potentials in Pakistan. We (KIU and Pakistani universities) need to work together", he stated.

"Universities are the base of a nation. When nations rise, it is the universities and schools that train all the people who run the offices and government bureaucracy. One of our universities in Pakistan is among the top 100 universities in the world, and we have more than 5 universities among the top 1000 universities", he added.

This visit is pivotal to the University's drive to create strong international partnerships and collaborations. Currently, KIU has over 50 Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with universities and governments across Africa, USA, Europe, and Asia.

The Ambassador led by the Vice-Chancellor also visited the University Library, and the Centre for Excellence, Entrepreneurship and Innovation (CoEEI) where Dr. Hashim Bisallah, the Director of Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions (RICE), and Dr. Ademola Olaniyan, Deputy Director RICE explained the operations and activities of the Centre. The Ambassador also had a brief chat with the University Management.
