KIU, Main Campus – H.E President Yoweri Museveni, in exercise of the power vested in him under Article 121 (1)(a) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda as amended, and on the advice of the Advisory Committee on the Prerogative of Mercy, has granted pardon to prisoners on public health and humanitarian grounds. 

A document circulating the socials indicates that President Museveni, on 3rd January, 2022, signed the release of seventy-nine (79) prisoners under medical and humanitarian grounds. 

The released include 78 Ugandan nationals and one Venezuelan national.
