KIU, Main Campus - Days after the death of Tanzania's President John Magufuli, amidst uttermost grief, the country held a state funeral ceremony for the fallen leader at the Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma on Monday, 22nd March, 2021.

The event was attended by thousands of mourners including Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta and Uganda's High Commissioner to Tanzania, Richard Kabonero, who represented Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni.

On the other hand, President Museveni, together with his wife Janet Museveni, have visited the Tanzania High Commission in Kampala to sign the official condolence book and pay their last respects to the Late Magufuli.

While mourning the death of a fellow African leader, President Museveni said, "President Magufuli was such a dedicated servant of the people of Tanzania, East Africa and Africa. It is such a great loss."

"Two weeks ago I had written to the Late Magufuli about the pipeline project because today was supposed to be the signing day. Little did I know that on the same day I will be signing in a condolence book. This is so sad," he added.

Meanwhile in Tanzania, flags continue to fly at half-mast as the country mourns the death of the transformative leader, President John Pombe Magufuli.
