The objectives of the department are to:

• Train professional Arts and Science educators who are competent in making accurate observations and practice.
• Impart in students problem-solving skills that can enable them to contribute to the education sector. 
• Develop students for careers in primary schools, secondary schools, colleges and tertiary institutions such as polytechnics.
• Prepare students for graduate study.
