KIU, Main Campus - Jill Amuhobwe, a second-year first-semester student of Bachelor's of Business Administration has offered herself to sensitize members of her community in Masindi district on how to keep safe from the second wave of the deadly COVID-19.

Following the closure of all learning institutions by the government at the beginning of the month, as one the means to contain the spread of Coronavirus, Amuhobwe, who is at the same time serves as the President of the Bunyoro Kitara Student's Association- KIU Chapter, has carried out door to door campaigns giving information about COVID-19.

"I offered myself to sensitize the people of Masindi Town about the realness and impact of COVID-19 and at the same time give the possible measures that can be used against this disease," Amuhobwe says.

In close partnership with local authorities in Masindi district, she has moved ahead to seek for airtime on different media houses from her district, with one radio station giving her one hour on air a week.

"Radio Kitara has offered me 1 hour to talk about COVID-19 and education, which I look at as an opportunity for me to reach a bigger number of people especially those of school-going age(students)," Amuhobwe reveals.

She hopes that with the seriousness of the second wave of the virus causing considerable anxiety among the populace, her sensitization drive can encourage more and more people especially in Masindi district to embrace the Ministry of Health Standard Operating Procedures, and protect themselves against COVID-19.
