By Agnes Kiconco

KIU, Main Campus - Kampala International University (KIU) Law Society is hosting moot competitions under the theme; "Building our moot skills is a collective responsibility"

The competitions kicked off on Saturday, May 22nd, and are expected to run till May 26th at the KIU Moot Court venue. They run from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Over the years, KIU has been hosting moot competitions to encourage students to appreciate competition and always involve themselves in court processions taking place in the moot court because this elevates and builds the lawyers of tomorrow who will not theorize, but act the law.

Having conducted the moot court sessions on Saturday and Monday, the winning competitors classified in various groups have proceeded from the High Court to the Constitutional court and will proceed to the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

As the competitions carry on till Wednesday, all eyes are on the prize as the KIU Law community awaits the final winner of the competitions come Wednesday, May 26th.

Besides KIU, other universities and institutions hold moot Court competitions all over the world. One of these is Kenyatta School of Law where participants appreciated the competitions since they got more familiar with researching different levels of legislation which has helped them foster legal reasoning and analytical skills.

With all the fun and learning experience that comes with the competitions, students are encouraged to take part so as to boost their self-confidence.

Students are recommended to participate in this challenge, especially those who are eager to develop and enhance their skills in public speaking and legal writing in a challenging but fun experience
