KIU, Main Campus – KIU Guild Minister of Trade, Investment and Transport ldd Mubarak Karuhanga believes the secret to success lies in the '5D' cycle that includes Discovery, Dream, Design, Develop and Destiny.

Karuhanga, a third-year Law student, said that he is using the '5D cycle' to deliver good service to the students body through his ministry amidst the challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"So far so good within 8 months in office. The Ministry of Trade, Investment and Transport has tremendously served the interests of all students and the entire KIU community amidst the outbreak of COVID-19 and hopefully, more service will be delivered with the lifting of the lockdown,” he said.

"The Ministry has made some achievements like raising guild funds amongst others despite having to deal with the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. We have also experienced some constraints like limited funds to facilitate the ministry's activities but we have to work within these shortcomings," he added.

Karuhanga called upon students to embrace the 5D cycle in order to achieve their academic and life goals for it embodies success.

"Students should also remember that the secret of success lies in the 5D cycle: Discovery, Dream about your future, Design strategies and Develop action plans that will lead you to Destiny," he explained.

He also urged students to embrace online lectures and follow the Standard Operating Procedures against the spread of COVID-19 as directed by the Ministry of Health as they await the official re-opening of schools.

Karuhanga is currently taking care of his livestock and poultry farm and a coffee plantation in Mubende district as well as sensitizing youths using social media platforms where he encourages them to work hard.

He is looking forward to adding to the success of his ministry and the guild union as his term of office nears the end.
