Dr. Sofia is an enthusiastic and self-motivated science and education lecturer in the Department of Arts and Science Education, College of Education, Open, Distance and E-learning. She has many years of professional experience in administrative, teaching and research with significant positive contributions to the development and enhancement of performance in the Institution.
She attained her Doctor of Education in Educational Administration at Far Eastern University
Manila, Master of Science in Biology at University of the Philippines, Master of Education in Biology at University at the Philippines. Her areas of teaching are General Science General Biology Comparative Vertebrates Anatomy, General and Human Ecology, Microbiology, General Botany, Physical and Biological Science, General Psychology; Human Growth and Development, Research Methods, Anatomy and Physiology, Parasitology and Subjects of Early Childhood Education and Special Needs Education. She has received several honours such as Merit Award as Outstanding Club Advisor, Merit Award as Outstanding Club Adviser. Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, Division of Antique, Philippines, Merit Award as Adviser to the Winner in Science Fair and Quiz, Awardee -Rotary Club of Bacolod City, Philippines, and Service Award Ten Years of Meritorious Service. Dr. Sofia has published her works in several journals, including the Integrity Journal of Education and Training, the American Journal of Educational Research and the International Journal of Education and Development Research. As her writings captured the attention of readers.
As a member of Biology Teachers Association (BIOTA), Philippines, INC, Life Member -Philippine Association for Vocational Education, Inc (PAVE), Member, Far Eastern University Faculty Union (FEUFU), Member of Far Eastern University Cooperative Association, Polytechnic state college of Antique Faculty and Employees Association (PSCAFFA), PSCA Multipurpose Cooperative and the Chairman of Students Disciplinary Committee at KIU, Dr. Sofia through her strong foundation and vast knowledge is guiding young intellectuals to explore the heights nationally and internationally..
