Dr. Olonade was born about five decades ago. He had National and Higher National Diplomas in Civil Engineering from the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Nigeria. He equally possessed Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) and Master of Science (MSc) in Civil Engineering from the Federal University of Technology, Akure and University of Ibadan, respectively. He was awarded a PhD degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering at the prestigious University of Lagos. His area of specialization is structural and material engineering. He is a cement and concrete expert. He pioneers the use of cassava peel ash as replacement for cement in concrete, which earned him the German-African Innovation Incentive Award in 2018 by the German Government. He has built the first ever cassava concrete structure. He is the pioneer recipient of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering Research Grant as well as the Royal Society International Exchanges Award and International Networks Grant for the SDGs funded by Royal Society London and Swedish Government, respectively. He has been a Guest Scientist at Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM), Berlin, Germany and at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Water Engineers and a member of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineering. He is also an active member of RILEM and has participated in three Technical Committees. In 2020, he founded the Society of Cement and Concrete Researchers in Nigeria (SCCRIN). Dr. Olonade is an academic and professional engineer. He has been teaching civil engineering courses at higher education level since 2003. He has supervised over 60 BSc Theses and 4 MSc Theses. He has to his credit about 50 publications in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings with 6 Technical Reports.
Presently, Engr. Dr. Olonade is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering and the Deputy Director of RICE at the Western Campus of Kampala International University, Uganda.
