MARGARET KAREYO is a Senior Lecturer and the Dean School of Mathematics and Computing, at Kampala International University (KIU). She is an enthusiastic and dedicated professional with extensive teaching experience across different areas of Information technology and Information systems. An exceptional and proactive leader with a logical approach to challenges, with vast experience in strategic forward planning; operating within tight financial disciplines imposed by ambitious budgets and methodical administration to deadlines (not to speak of crisis management where necessary). She endeavours to apply modern leadership methods (through staff motivation and involvement in both decision making and target setting, plus clarity in communication and personal inter-relations. Kareyo is now looking to progress into a professional consultant within the Information System and Management sectors, hence, always keen to serve in suitably challenging roles within learning Institutions so as to venture into integrating ICT models into Management in an effort to improve management systems and thus improve organizational- performance. Additionally, she has special interest in analysis of systems, as well as dealing with cross-cultural environments. She is a member of the Senate Examination Committee, the Management Disciplinary Committee, and the Senate Admissions and Programmes Committee at KIU.
Kareyo holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Management Science, a Masters of Business Administration - Information Technology (MBA-IT), and a Bachelor of Computer Science (Management Information Systems Major), all from Kampala International University. She has also received the 2018 Security Intelligence Engineer mastery award for Educator for an IMB training held at Cavendish University, and participated in other trainings including the University Leadership and Management training, the ICT for Development and Mobile Computing for Development training, and the Pedagogy Training on câ?¬Å?Effective and Quality Teachingcâ?¬ in KIU.
She has published and co-published articles in journals including the Global Journal of Engineering Science and Researchers, the Journal of Multidisciplinary Engineering Science and Technology, the American Scientific Journal for Engineering, Technology, and Sciences, and the African Journal Of Management Information Systems. She has also presented conference papers at the 1st Innovations Summit For Africa held by Mbarara University of Science And Technology in 2019, and the 9th East African Quality Assurance Network Annual Conference held at Imperial view Hotel, Entebbe in 2019.
Her areas of computer-based interest include Management information systems, Project Planning and Management for Information Systems using MS Project software, Database systems designed and Administration, MS Access Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), Digital Logic, Data Communication Networks / Computer Networking, System Analysis and Design, and Software Engineering to mention but a few. She is also interested in areas of social science and business including Organizational Behaviour, Research Methodology, Project Planning and Management, Entrepreneurial Management, and Computer Applications for Research
