Mangen Hands Over KIUPSA Leadership to Gaboyi

KIU, Western Campus – Joshua Fred Mangen has officially handed over the leadership of the KIU Pharmacy Students Association (KIUPSA) to Charles Jesse Gaboyi.

In a ceremony that was held on Monday, February 5th, 2024, at the University Main Hall, Mangen handed over files and office equipment belonging to KIUPSA in front of the School of Pharmacy fraternity.

Mangen thanked the Pharmacy students for having allowed him to serve them as their president for the past year and said that it was a responsibility he enjoyed.

In his speech, Gaboyi promised to make KIUPSA visible globally through a raft of measures he said he would put in place.

“My mission is making KIUPSA visible globally by having a website for Pharmacy students, labeling all medicinal plants, and also widening the WiFi bandwidth which will enable easy research among students,” he said.

He also promised to lobby for more support from external sponsors in terms of funds and resources to ease the activities of the association, have the constitutional review and amendment, and bridge the gap with the administration.

“I intend to bridge the gap between the Pharmacy students and administrators to enable the establishment of a good relationship among students, lecturers, and other leaders at campus,” Gaboyi added.

Those in attendance were the Assistant Deputy Vice Chancellor for  Academics and Research (ADVC-A&R), Dr. Ibrahim Babangida, the Dean School of Pharmacy (SoP) Dr. Asuman Bateyo, and the Director of Quality Assurance Dr. Aduma Marita among others.

Mangen completed his tenure as KIUPSA president on February 5th, 2024, and among the things he achieved is taking part in the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda (PSU) Pharma, Medical and Healthcare International Exhibition at the Uganda Manufacturing Association (UMA) Exhibition Hall in Lugogo, Kampala, organizing the Pharmacy Dinner, Mr. and Miss Pharmacy and successfully hosting the Pharmacy Week.
