PhD in Development Studies
About the Programme
The PhD Programme in Development Studies is both theoretical and practical in nature, given the fact that development is best understood in theory and practice.
The programme will combine both coursework and intensive research output in the form of a thesis. Consistent with the NCHE benchmark (April 2015), the proposed program like other PhD programs will be offered through two alternative pathways, by coursework and research, and “by research only” where students will be required to do all cross-cutting courses and undertake research culminating in a thesis that will be formally assessed for the award of the degree.
It will be a three years programme consisting of a first year and half of the second year (three semesters) for course work and half of the second year and third year (three semesters) for research and eventual thesis submission for examination.
