KIU, Western Campus câ¬â?? The Business, Technical and Vocational Educational Training (BTVET) has today, September 7, 2020, inspected the KIU School of Nursing Sciences to assess its readiness for the scheduled reopening of schools after the COVID-19 lockdown.

Finalist and semi-finalist Nursing students at Diploma level are expected to report to school on September 21, and an inspection team from BTVET was at the nursing school to ensure that itcâ¬â?cs ready to receive the students.

The inspection exercise will be done in all Nursing Schools all over the country and schools that are deemed to be ready will receive a Certificate of compliance from the Ministry of Health after receiving a report from the assessment team.

The major requirements being inspected are adequate space in terms of teaching and accommodation space as well as adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by the Ministry of Health.

The Associate Dean for the KIU School of Nursing Christine Namigadde expressed optimism that they fulfilled all the requirements and will receive the certificate of compliance.

câ¬Å?The exercise went on very well and we are expecting to get the certificate of compliance since we have the space that they needed,c⬠Namigadde said.

The Dean School of Nursing Annet Kabanyoro meanwhile called upon the students to always adhere to the SOPs once they are allowed to report.

câ¬Å?The students should comply with the SOPs and we shall not be tolerant to anyone who doesncâ¬â?ct comply,c⬠Kabanyoro warned.

The National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) last week announced that President Yoweri Museveni had approved finalists pursuing health-related courses to resume school on September 28.
