KIU, Main Campus - The Ministry of Education and Sports has cautioned schools against hiding COVID-19 cases. This comes days to the reopening of schools after close to two years of closure due to the pandemic.

This warning was issued by Hon. Hamson Dennis Obua, the State Minister for Education and Sports. He said if there are any signs and symptoms, cases should be reported promptly to the nearest health units and the necessary procedures followed to ensure the virus does not spread.

His caution follows various cases of concealing of COVID-19 cases by many schools before the last closure which saw a high number of learners return to their respective homes infected.

In the same development, schools have been tasked to review security measures. This was revealed by Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, who called upon schools to restrict visitors from easily accessing school premises.

Enanga added that this will be important especially because crimes against children are on the increase.

During the most recent Presidential Address on 31 December 2021, President Museveni okayed schools to reopen after being closed for about two years.
