KIU, Main Campus – From lecturers and students to administrative and support staff, WhatsApp is probably one of the most popular mobile applications in the KIU Community. As part of the global effort to fight the Coronavirus Pandemic, the University is committed to sharing all information regarding the responsible use of social networks in this critical time.

We spoke to Assoc. Prof.Janice Busingye, who advised that students should be careful to share information only from reputable sources.

“It’s important that we understand our responsibility to our communities and spread only the right information. We can start by paying attention to our direct authorities, the Ministry of Health, the President and well recognized global organizations like the World Health Organization.”

Additionally, the professor warned about the mental health effects of misinformation and advised the community to avoid speculation, stay connected through phone calls and chat and manage their consumption of news especially if it leads to stress.
