General Katumba Wamala Survives Assasination Attempt, Daughter Killed

KIU, Main Campus - Works and Transport minister Gen Katumba Wamala's has today morning survived an assassination attempt on his life, after being shot by assassins along Kisota road in Kisaasi, a Kampala suburb.

At the time of the shooting, Gen Katumba was travelling with his daughter, Brenda Wamala Nantongo on their way to bury a relative, till the armed assassins shot at them killing Nantongo and his driver, Haruna Kayondo according to media reports.

Whereas his daughter and driver didn't survive the unfortunate ordeal, Gen Katumba on the other hand survived with bullets in his left arm and chest. He was later rushed to Malcolm Clinic for medical attention.

According to eyewitnesses, the four unknown armed assailants riding on two black motorbikes shot at his car and sped by after the shooting.

Gen. Katumba Wamala's now-deceased daughter, Nantongo was last sighted in public escorting his father to Parliament for his swearing-in ceremony as UPDF representative in the 11th Parliament. 

Currently, the Chief of Defense Forces Gen David Muhoozi is in Kisaasi visiting the crime scene.
