KIU Alumni Voice: Former KIU Students Says KIU Produces Best Teachers.

By Isaac Akugizibwe

KIU, Main Campus - David Akugizibwe, a Physics and Mathematics teacher at Katooke Secondary School in Kyenjojo district, has claimed that no university produces the best teachers other than Kampala International University (KIU) nowadays.

When inquired on how David became an influential teacher at one of Kyenjojo’s most prestigious schools given his age, he said his appointment was not by chance or favour but merit. He explained that he deserved the position because he had everything the interviewers wanted. This saw him beat over 10 applicants to the position of Physics and Mathematics teacher in June 2019.

‘’I beat over 10 other applicants to become a teacher at Katooke SSS and remember I was the only applicant from KIU. How could that be a chance for sure," he admitted

He added that, ‘’I had what the authorities were looking for and that’s what exactly KIU produces. The best teachers be it in arts or sciences.’’

David also confirmed that many of his classmates are credible teachers in various schools around Uganda and that others have even gone beyond borders because of the exceptional knowledge inculcated in them by lecturers at Uganda’s leading private university.

The 26-year-old acknowledged the fact that the public is getting to know the worth of KIU graduates, especially teachers, saying that this should be a great time for Education students to reach out to various schools for internship and employment.

‘’This is a great opportunity for education students to look out for internship placements anywhere for the ground is levelled,’’David said.

He commended the Alumni for doing great in terms of upholding the name of the university especially in the field of education.

David Akugizibwe graduated with a second class upper of a Bachelors of Science in Education in November 2018. He first taught Physics at Bank Hill College, Ndejje before joining Katooke Secondary School in Kyenjojo district.
