KIU, Main Campus – Asiinah Kagoya, a KIU Information Technology graduate and current Bugiri Municipality Youth Councillor says she misses her KIU days and sometimes “wishes she would go back.”

Kagoya, the former Guild Health Minister for 2018/2019 says her student days were filled with love, humour, immense motivation and joy at some of the moments she enjoyed with her peers.

"My days at KIU are worth a memory to keep forever. In fact, sometimes I wish I would go back to those days. It was a social and political life that I lived. I met friends worth keeping forever," Kagoya recounts.

She says that most of her classmates were so humorous that lectures would be fun and enjoyable. This made her read hard, the reason why she passed highly despite having various responsibilities as a students’ leader.

"Academically, I had humorous classmates who made lectures such fun that I was motivated to read hard," she adds.

Following her exquisite service as Guild Minister of health, Kagoya was named the best female minister at the end of her term of office, something that she regards as one of the most memorable moments she had at university.

"I was very much obliged to serve and made sure that students’ welfare was honoured, by organizing several health activities for the university. This also gave me the desire and urge to serve even outside the university," Kagoya explains.

Apart from being youth councillor, the 24-year old is also the chairperson of general duties and a committee member for Bugiri municipality.

She says she is motivated by passion and desire to serve humanity and lives on the principle of creating a sustainable generation of youth.  She intends to achieve this through her initiative, Kagoya Youth Development Association.

Kagoya believes that leadership is a service and not a source of income. She also hopes to use her foundation, Kagoya Youth Development Association to skill young ladies so that they can walk a better path in their lives.

And on this special day for youths, we at KIU wish Asiinah Kagoya a wonderful International Youth Day!
