KIU, Main Campus - Peter Ntungire, the Health Minister in the KIU Main campus students guild has advised students and the general public to continue observing the Ministry of Health guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) against COVID-19.

Ntungire, a third-year student of Science in Environmental Management expressed concern about the abandonment of adherence to SOPs by some members of the public while speaking to this website in a virtual interview.

"I have been seeing several people not bothered anymore about the SOPs and the other ministry of health guidelines against the spread of COVID-19. Some people no longer wash hands, keep social distance and avoid crowds," Ntungire noted.

"Failure to continue observing the guidelines will see us go back to lockdown yet we need to go back to school. So the only way to avoid sickness due to COVID-19 and other problems like lockdown is to wash our hands regularly, avoid crowds and practice social distancing," he added.

Ntungire is confident that things will soon get back to normal provided the public observes the Ministry of Health guidelines against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also called upon students to embrace online lectures and discussions as the government strives to have physical lectures reinstated as soon as it is possibly safe.

"I urge students to embrace online lectures and discussions as we wait for the government's procedures of reopening schools and learning institutions for physical interaction," Ntungire advised.
