On the heels of winning Gold at the Presidential Export Awards, KIU has emerged as the leading private university and the fourth-best university overall in Uganda in the recently released Webometrics rankings. More notably, KIU came in second regarding Openness, which is a research indicator.
Webometrics is a ranking system for the world's universities based on the volume of the web contents, visibility, and the impact of their web publications. The ranking is published by the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) located in Madrid, Spain.
As per the Webometrics page, cā¬Å?the January edition (2020.1.1) is built with the indicators obtained during this month in order to maintain the freshness of the data of the most current and updated ranking of universities.cā¬
KIU has maintained its position as the leading private university since January 2019 where it was ranked fifth in the country, overall.
Last week, after winning Gold at the Presidential Export Awards, the Vice-Chancellor of KIU, Dr Mouhamad Mpezamihigo noted that cā¬Å?KIU has been declared the flagship university that brands Ugandan higher education.cā¬
This achievement is another testament to that certainty.
