KIU, Main Campus - Last month in November, 2021, The Management of KIU represented by Dr. Sophia Kazibwe, DVC Academic Affairs and Dr. Mustafa Mundu Muhamad, Assistant DVC Academic Affairs, Western Campus visited Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey
This visit was a follow-up to the meeting held by the management of the two universities in March 2021 at KIU Main Campus in Kansanga. At the meeting the Rector, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Turkey, Prof. Dr. Bunyamin SAHIN proposed areas of collaboration like student and staff exchange programmes, staff scholarship, and joint research.
In addition to these areas, the visit gave the two universities the opportunity to re-emphasize modalities to jointly create networks and collaborations to exploit opportunities from the EU Erasmus Mundus programme.
During the visit, the Management toured their School of Medicine and Dentistry, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Arts, International Relations Office, and other facilities to benchmark.
According to Dr. Kazibwe, Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Teaching Hospital has 700-bed capacity and also serves 3,000 outpatients per day with ultra-modern technology and world-class health care services. “Their medical programme has specializations in Psychiatry, Surgery, Paediatrics, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Ophthalmology, and Radiology. These are key areas KIU wants to collaborate among others”
One of the main highlights of the visit was the setup of an implementation task force from the two partner institutions. “The implementation task force will ensure all the terms of reference in the collaboration document are successfully adhered to”, said Dr. Mundu Muhamad.
The Task force committee members are: Dr. Kazibwe Sophia and Dr. Mundu Mustafa representing KIU. From Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University are Prof. Dr. Kubilay OZYER, Assist. Prof. Dr. Fehim Kuruloglu and Dr. Murat.
