KIU, Main Campus - On 26th February 2020, Research supervisors met during the KIU Postgraduate Research Guide Seminar at Kampala International University-Main Campus to discuss ways forward in regards to research and were urged to handle students they supervise as their own academic investment.

According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs (DVC-AA), Prof.Tayo Arulogun, supervisors should see the investment in their students as their own academic investment.

“The best investment we can do is in people so let all of us see the students under our supervision as our academic investment,“ said Prof.Tayo.

He added that students, especially at PhD level, are faced with a number of challenges which end up putting their supervisors in very serious dilemmas which he said can only be solved by creating networks between the supervisors and the supervisees.

The seminar also addressed a number of challenges which both students and supervisors face during research, including highlighting different strategies to address the challenges and dilemmas. But also suggested and provided solutions such as self-assessment, cooperation, and instant feedback among others.

The seminar was attended by top administrators, senior researchers, professors, and postgraduate students.
