KIU, Main Campus - On February 8th, 2023, the management of Kampala International International University entered into an agreement with Red Sea University Somalia. The KIU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, represented the management of KIU, while Dr. Faisal Abdirahman Abdullahi, the Vice-President of Admin and Finance, and Acting President of the University represented Red Sea University.
The agreement will be in effect for a period of 5 years. It will focus on research and innovation, capacity building of staff through short-term visits to KIU campuses and vice versa, joint publicity, and promotion of KIU programs in Somalia, postgraduate scholarship opportunities and joint research and innovation projects. Started in 2000, the Red Sea University is a private and non-profit University with its main campus in Bosaso City, and a branch at Galkalo City, both in Puntland the state of Somalia.
As the leading private university in Uganda, KIU has been at the forefront of international relations and collaborations, and the strengthening of educational inclusion in the East Africa region and beyond.
The Vice-Chancellor noted, “KIU has reached such a stage of growth and expansion in the region that we will be reaching out to institutions of higher learning and assist build their capacities, while at the same time, KIU benefiting from reverse linkages from such institutions” He advised KIU technical and the RSU teams to make practical follow up on the MOU to actually the aspirations of both Universities.
Also in attendance was Prof. Durraiz Rehman, the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research Innovation and Extension, and a representative from Red Sea University. KIU continues to explore the heights.
