KIU Signs MoU with University of Bosaso-Garowe Somalia

Today Monday, 24th January 2022, the management of Kampala International University led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs, Dr. Sophia Kazibwe, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research, Innovations, Consultancy and Extensions (RICE), Assoc. Prof. Chukwuemeka Diji signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Bosaso-Garowe (UOBG), Somalia.

The MoU aims at outlining the possible ways in which KIU and UOBG could develop and carry out collaborative activities in joint research, student and staff exchange, joint international research and educational conferences and conferences among others.

The team from UOBG was represented by the Director of UoBG, Dr. Mohammed Ali Mohamoud and the Principal Consultant of UoBG Mr. Tumwebaze Alican Auf.

In his remarks the VC Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo thanked the team from UOBG for choosing KIU among other Universities and informed them of the so many opportunities KIU can offer to them.

“We are looking forward to more partnerships with UOBG and working together as lead institutions to address community issues within the region,” Prof. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo.

The Principal Consultant of UoBG Mr. Tumwebaze Alican Auf appreciated the management of KIU for their hospitality both at the western campus and the main campus.

“We are so much appreciative to the management of KIU for accepting this collaboration and the guidance given to us. The experience at the western campus set our minds ablaze and when we go back to Garowe shall come up with more suggestions to help the university of Bosaso improve,” Mr. Tumwebaze Alican Auf.

The Director of UoBG, Dr. Mohammed Ali Mohamoud said that this MoU will help the UOBG community to continue developing.

“We have learnt a lot from KIU, the hospitality at both the main campus and the western campus cannot be explained in words and we thank the management for that,” Dr. Mohammed Ali Mohamoud.

Dr. Sophia Kazibwe, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Affairs, also appreciated the delegates from UOBG for choosing KIU and asked them to contact KIU whenever they are interested in any other areas of collaboration.

“The fact that you thought of us means a lot and our doors are always open for collaboration and advise,” Dr. Sophia Kazibwe said.

The DVC-RICE, Assoc. Prof. Diji again assured them that KIU is ready to assist their staff in the area of research through publications in KIU Journals, joint research, and proposal writing.

“Our journals are fully operational and we would be glad if your staff have publications they want to publish and we can do joint publications,” Prof. Diji said.
