On 18th February 2020, KIU hosted a consortium of universities from Gujarat, the fifth-largest state in India. The delegation, led by Dr. Neerja A. Gupta, from Gujarat Technological University, had representatives from over 16 universities ranging from private to public and sectorial.
The purpose of this meeting was to establish relationships as universities, in line with KIUcā¬ā?cs goal of internationalizing education through student and faculty exchange programs as well as research and innovation. Each representative from the various universities signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with KIU as a step towards achieving this goal.
cā¬Å?Today we hit a milestone by receiving more than 16 universities from Gujarat in India that have sought to establish relationships through exchange programs. This is also further recognition of the size and greatness of Kampala International University. We have gone global and this is just the start as more is yet to come,cā¬ stated Dr. Mouhamad Mpezamihigo, the Vice-Chancellor.
The members of the delegation were happy to discuss how they can work together with KIU for smooth progression in international higher education.
cā¬Å?Continents are working in isolation which is not good because we need to work collaboratively so we can bond in all aspects of life as well as share resources such as intellectual resources especially when it comes to research. We hope to have training programs, associations between our schools and faculties, research, publications, and exchange programs,cā¬ said Dr. Gupta.
KIU, represented by Dr Mpezamihigo, was also invited for a higher educational global summit which is slated to take place from 24th cā¬ā?? 26th September 2020 in Gandhinagar, the capital city of Gujarat, India. The summit is expected to attract some of the world's best educators.
Dr. Mpezamihigo concluded that KIU is committed to internationalization and will continue its pursuit of global collaborations.
