KIU, Western Campus – Agatha Higgins Ruteraho’s dream has always been to be the best model teacher, and thanks to the Staff Development Scheme initiated by the Chairman Board of Trustees (CBOT), Al Hajji Dr. Hassan Basajjabalaba,  she is ever so close to attaining the qualifications that will aid her to achieve her dream.

Ruteraho, who is a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, teaching History and Christian Religious Education, says she will forever be indebted to the CBOT.

“I have always wanted to have the best education and qualifications to be one of the best, if not the best teacher,” Ruteraho says.

“And thanks to Dr. Basajjabalaba, I am now pursuing a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education courtesy of his generosity and desire to improve the quality of his staff in particular and education as a whole,” she adds.

Ruteraho has a Master’s Degree in Education and Management and she says she will use her qualifications to make sure she produces the best teacher for tomorrow.

“My goal is to use my qualifications to impart the best skills in my students so that by the time they have completed school, they are the best product for the education sector,” she reveals.

She advises all students, especially the girl child to concentrate on their studies wholeheartedly because they face the biggest obstacles in their academic journey.

“The girl child faces the most and biggest obstacles like unwanted pregnancies and cultural stereotypes. So they should know that education is their ticket to the promised land of independence and prosperity and concentrate on their studies,” she advises.
