KIU, Western Campus – Yasin Mukasa, a laboratory attendant at KIU Teaching Hospital passed away on the morning of Sunday 26th, April at the hospital.

Mukasa had been admitted at the hospital since Wednesday with health complications originating from stomach ulcers. He is survived by a widow and one child. The widow is expecting their second child.

Hospital staff took to their WhatsApp group to pour out their feelings and reactions towards Mukasa’s death.

Dr  Akib Olabisi, the Deputy Executive Director of KIU Teaching Hospital was among the first people to send her condolences.

“It is really so sad. He will surely be missed, he was dedicated. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Dr Akib said.

The Hospital Administrator Peninah Kanyange also expressed her regret at Mukasa’s death.

“It’s very sad to lose such a young, very hard working and self-motivated staff. For the little time I got to know him, Yasin was very humble but with words of wisdom. He worked very hard to achieve organizational goals. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Kanyange said.

Winnie Atweta sent comforting words to his family, beseeching God to comfort them in this trying period.

“Yasin, may your soul rest in peace. We have not even reached at your internal house but we are so sad. May the Lord have mercy on the wife, parents and all your friends,” Atweta posted.

Mukasa was laid to rest at his parents’ home in Nyabubaare sub-county, Bushenyi district yesterday.
