KIU Trains Staff on Courseware Adaptation and Development for Open Distance Learning

In line with the vision of KIU to become the best in digital learning, the e-learning Team at KIU conducted a Train the Trainers workshop on April 16, 2020. The workshop was the continuation of the capacity building workshop on Open Courseware Adaptation and Development on Open and Distance Learning held last month.

In his opening address, Prof Tayo Arulogun, the DVC-Academic Affairs, said the purpose of the workshop was to consolidate on the gains so far on the e-learning project and also train the participants on the various aspects on the KIU e-learning platform. 

Important topics and issues on open and distance learning were discussed. The first training session was taken by Dr Saliu O. Yinus, he talked on Open Educational Resources (OER) for Open and Distance Learning. The topic on Plagiarism in Open and Distance Learning was handled by Mr Abass A. Alimi.

Mr Tosin A. Akindele presented the topic on Instructional Design Models, the last presentation on Courseware Adaptation was taken by Mr Adetunji S. Adeyemi. 

The practical session on How to Design Instructional Material was handled by Mr Tosin Akindele.

Other participants include, Dr Alone Kimwise (School of Mathematics and Computing), Dr Jonas Tusiimire (College of Economics and Management), Paul Ohumende Osaze (e-learning project), Albert Nyanchoka (School of Pharmacy), Manyange Michael (Faculty of Business and Management), Joe Mutebi (Faculty of Science and Technology), Lukumu Godfrey (Academic Affairs), Dr Saidi Odoma (School of Pharmacy) and Dr Mariam (Faculty of Biomedical Sciences).
