KIU, Western Campus –Bachelor's and Diploma students at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) of KIU Western Campus are participating in an intensive mandatory workshop training as part of their recess semester curriculum.

The workshop training, which started on June 10th and ends on July 26th, 2024, is being conducted in the state-of-the-art workshops and laboratories of the engineering school and is structured around a meticulously planned daily and weekly itinerary. 

This schedule ensures that all participating students, from the first and second year, gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in their respective fields of study.

According to the Associate Dean for Research at SEAS, Dr. Milon Selvam Dennison, the training is important for the practical application of the theoretical concepts learnt in class.

“The workshop training at KIU’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences represents a significant step towards bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application,” he said.

“By engaging in real-world projects and community service, students not only enhance their technical capabilities but also develop a sense of social responsibility,” he added.

He revealed that it is meant to provide practical experience in engineering problem-solving and project management and enhance technical skills through direct application in real-world scenarios. 

It is also aimed at fostering teamwork and collaboration among students from different engineering fields and engaging with the community to address local needs and apply engineering solutions for societal benefit.
