KIU, Western Campus – The Finance Department of KIU Western Campus has come out to warn students about some of the facilities they use to pay tuition because of the risks involved.
In a memo, the Finance Department warned students about especially using the Agency Banking Facility because it does not indicate the student’s names and registration number.
“Some students use agency banking facility to pay tuition and other financial dues. Finance has observed that most of the receipts students collect from agency banking agents do not have students’ names and registration numbers,” reads the memo in part.
An official from the department, who preferred anonymity, said that the department will henceforth not accept receipts from agency banking which do not clearly indicate the student details.
“The disadvantage with agency banking is that one receipt can be used by more than one student because most of the receipts do not reflect the student’s details,” she said.
“Someone can pay from Bundibugyo and this receipt, if it has no student details, can also be used by someone from here. So we shall not accept receipts without clear details” she added.
The department therefore advised students on the risk-free facilities they can use to pay tuition and other financial dues.
“We therefore advise that in addition to using the direct banking facility, students can as well use School Pay to process school fees payments,” the department says in the memo.
