KIU, Western Campus – KIU Western Campus yesterday hosted drug safety officers from the National Drug Authority (NDA).
The team, which included Dr. Pius Ariho and Dr.Veronica, discussed at length in regards to drug safety,regulation and control to the Bachelor students of Pharmacy, according to the KIU Pharmacy Students Association (KIUPSA) Joshua Fred Mangen.

The team was received by the Dean School of Pharmacy Dr. Sharon Igbinoba and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor KIU Western Campus Prof. Frank Mugisha Kaharuza and they later on addressed the student’s fraternity of KIU School of Pharmacy.

According to Mangen, the visit was an intentional ffort by the KIUPSA administration, in a move to combat some of the challenges faced by the Pharmacy students, especially in regard to their performance in the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda (PSU) exams.

“As part of the action plans of the regime to try and combat on the average performance of students in the PSU pre-internship exams, more of such engagements have been put in plan and we hope that students’ performance will greatly improve,” Mangen said.

The NDA team revealed that a sensitisation approach is being used to try and combat wrong advertisements that are circulating all over media and other sources of medicinal and drug information.
