KIU, Main Campus - On Friday 4th February 2022, the longest serving KIU South Sudan Students Association (KIUSSSA) executive was finally dissolved bringing to an end a two and a half year old wait for new faces at the summit of this association and creating space for fresh minds and ideas.
It is upon this that the leadership of the association unanimously agreed to appoint Maet Mawich Bol as Chairman of the committee that will oversee the choosing of the next executive. The appointed Electoral Commission will comprise of five people including the chairperson.
"We have desolved the leadership of 2019 - 2022 today and we have formed an electoral committee of five people to organise a free, fair, credible and verifiable election at end of this month," Kon Kon Aleu the outgoing President said on Friday.
The Electoral Commission is expected to produce a detailed guide and calendar for the election of the next executive team. It is also responsible for setting the date for voting.
"The date for elections is not yet clear as we are waiting for the calendar and the guidelines from EC members," President Kon Kon added.
Maet Mawich Bol and his committee are expected to produce the election road map and the day on which South Sudan students at Uganda's leading private university will finally choose new leaders to help better their association atleast for the next one year.
The outgoing leadership has been in power since October 2019. However, this was caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and its unavoidable consequences.
