KIU, Main Campus - National Medical Stores (NMS) is currently conducting a free mass yellow fever vaccine exercise at Mayor's Garden, Entebbe. The campaign started on Thursday 19th and will end today, Monday 30th August.

The process takes approximately three minutes from the time you enter the vaccination booths to when you receive your yellow fever certificate.

"Remember to Carry your National ID. Come get vaccinated against Yellow Fever at no cost," announced NMS.

NMS also advised that pregnant women, children below 9 months and persons above 60 are not eligible for vaccination against yellow fever. The vaccine is used to help prevent yellow fever in adults and children who are at least 9 months old.

Yellow fever is spread through the bite of an infected mosquito. It is found in parts of Africa and South America. The majority of people with yellow fever virus infections will either not have symptoms, or have mild disease and completely recover. But some people will develop severe disease.

There is no medicine to treat or cure yellow fever so vaccination is important so as to avoid contracting the deadly disease.
