One New Coronavirus Case Confirmed, Bringing Total to 55

KIU, Main Campus câ¬â?? A press release issued by the Office of the Director-General in the Ministry of Health, dated 14th April, 2020, confirmed one new Coronavirus case, out of the 625 samples that were tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI).

According to the Ministry of Health, 372 samples were from truck drivers at the border points of entry, while 253 were from contacts in the community.

The new case happens to be a 38-year-old, Ugandan male, truck driver of Tororo district, who arrived from Kenya on Monday, 12th April 2020. He was tested at the Malaba border point as part of the routine test for truck drivers.

The Ministry of Health is currently testing all truck drivers (cargo transporters) for COVID-19, who come into the country via the various points of entry.

A cumulative total of 6,661 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in Uganda.
